The Portland Punk Princess Pageant Season 2 Theme Song

One of the biggest goals for this live production was to showcase the talent present in the local Portland drag scene.

It's tough out there, making art and trying to survive under capitalism.

Queers frequently do not have the same access to jobs, education, and generational wealth that will connect them with a continuous line of further opportunities. But the interests and the drive and the talent are all present!

I wondered what it would be like to see local performers in projects that had Summer blockbuster movie budgets. What if this series of drag shows was as big as some superhero team-up movie?

Our community members are the figures of the myths and legends we pass down - "Do you REMEMBER when she gutted that fish live onstage?? Iconic!"

Artists performing every Friday at some dive bar can capture a powerful feeling from the zeitgeist and present it to the audience and make them feel seen in a way they can't get anywhere else - "She's obviously not THE Whitney Houston, but I think she might actually BE every woman... and I think I am too!"

Well, I didn't ACTUALLY have a major motion picture budget, but I put in a lot of work to design an introduction theme song that thoroughly communicated what everyone was in for throughout the 3-performance run of the Portland Punk Princess Pageant season 2.

We see all the cast members, hosts, and guest judges AT Black Water Bar, where the show took place.

We see each of the hosts in a setting that evokes the theme and challenge for that night.

And we see how the performers magically transport the bar, as though on enormous chicken feet, to distant wondrous settings.

Honestly, that's just exactly what happened in real life too.
